A Handy Manifest Update

Spatial computing is core to everything we do here at Taqtile so it will probably not be surprising that was the focus of Manifest 2.9, the latest version of Manifest work instruction solution.

It is an important release that provides the foundation for more to come in 2024 but also provides a few intriguing additions that customers have been raving about.

Introducing Hand Notes

Hand Notes are a new Note type that enables the recording and playback of hand movement as an augmented reality digital object. This provides workers with a better understanding of precisely where their hands should be located for a specific task – helpful to address safety concerns. It also provides a good way to show movement and guide workers such as showing a valve turning or a slider moving. For many workers, watching hands perform a task or pointing to a location is easier to understand than an arrow or pointer. Some research suggests that it could even lower the cognitive load of users. We had many customer requests for this functionality, so we are pleased to be able to deliver this update.  We encourage existing Manifest users to give it a try.

MRTK3 Support

Also central to this release is support for MRTK3 – Microsoft’s third generation of open-source Mixed Reality Toolkit for Unity. Designed to hasten cross-platform mixed reality development, MRTK3 enables the Taqtile team to support more new devices and platforms faster – ultimately, increasing the number of choices for Manifest users.  As a Manifest customer, there is not too much to think about here yet. But as we embrace this approach, Taqtile will be delivering more support, faster for a broader set of devices on which to use Manifest. We are excited about what is to come.

And There’s More

As with every release, we have looked at ways to enhance usability and ease of use. So existing users will notice some changes and design improvements to the user interface – windows and buttons will look a little different and Step Notes have some changes as well.

Be sure to try out Hand Notes and check out our release notes for Manifest 2.9 for all the details.
