Dirck T. Schou, Jr., Taqtile CEO – As I head into the office today, my head is still spinning from last week. In case you missed it, my company, Taqtile, launched a new product for Microsoft’s HoloLens last Tuesday called HoloMaps. The launch received great coverage by a number of varied tech and mixed reality publications, some of which offered some valuable commentary:
Augmented.org: “First impression: wow! In almost every Sci-Fi or near-future movie you can see hologram tactical maps or overview charts projected into the room (be it Ironman, Star Wars, whatever) — and with this app you can finally see it happen!”
And VRvibe, which published an in-depth video review, called HoloMaps, “…definitely one of the top apps for HoloLens…” Check out that review in the video below:
Concurrent with our launch, we were also asked by Microsoft to demo HoloMaps in their booth at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona, so we planned the HoloMaps launch to coincide with the start of the Expo. In fact, the Geekwire story announcing HoloMaps ran on ‘Barcelona Time’, providing some timely third party validation in terms of content to share with the Expo’s attendees and analysts.
Barcelona is (Taqtile’s) Kelly Malone’s favorite city, so he volunteered for the “hardship duty” of providing the demos at the Expo, and asked our colleagues, Mark Grossnickle from Tucson and Alexi and Sergei from our Minsk office to join him. They all gladly accepted! Who wouldn’t? Barcelona is beautiful, but as the Smart City Expo is a global event, you are also surrounded by people from other countries and backgrounds. Collaboration is the key to success in an environment like this, and thanks to the collaborative nature of our demos, our crew experienced that diversity throughout the event.
