Manifest Digitization Platform Supports Multiple Army Maintenance Applications
The U.S. Army and its Army Application Laboratory (AAL) awards a Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to Taqtile to fulfill their Augmented Reality Maintainer-Operator Relay System (ARMORS) vision. Taqtile, a leader in augmented reality (AR) based work-instruction solutions will expand deployment of the company’s innovative Manifest® platform to address the Army’s Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) needs across multiple vehicle platforms.
The recently completed Phase 1 program enabled the Army to validate Manifest’s unique capabilities to support digital transformation of motor pool MRO. Manifest demonstrably empowered personnel to complete complex tasks more safely, more efficiently, and more accurately than was possible with outdated paper-based processes.
“Modernization isn’t only about helicopters and drones and the capital platforms,” said Thomas Mead, Army Application Laboratory Project Manager. “AAL is excited to continue work with Taqtile on a solution that will actually improve soldiers’ experiences in their routine work. Taqtile’s Manifest platform is a state-of-the-art upgrade to the way soldiers perform preventative maintenance on their vehicles that will save time and money while improving readiness.”

Augmented Reality Safety Training And Certification
To receive safety certification on a Getinge steam sterilizer, Novartis associates follow step-by-step work instructions to perform the cleaning procedure.
When the job is completed, they can leave evidence (in the form of a photo or video)which supervisors review and use to certify.
Novartis requires evidence on certain job steps to provide quality assurance and verify the associate has completed critical steps in the procedure accurately. If evidence shows a step has been performed incorrectly, certification can be withheld. Manifest provides associates with immersive step-by-step guides that make training and learning technical procedures more effective.
The Manifest Web Application allows supervisors to view performance by reviewing completed training modules and ensuring mandatory evidence meets standards for certification.
Over time, Job Performance and evidence can identify challenging steps in order to refine step-by-step instructions to make training and learning technical procedures even more effective.

Augmented Reality Training For Advanced Manufacturing
“My name is Beau Wileman, I work for PBC Linear. I am the Factor of the Future Manager. For augmented reality we use Manifest. With this software we’re able to put a headset on someone the day they start and make sure that they’re getting trained with the templates we want to train them on and we’re able to get them
caught up to speed in as little as three days.
The first thing we do is we record an operator running through the procedures of the machine. Whether it’s start up, tool touch off, blow off, or any sort of quality. We’ll have someone standing behind them recording and asking questions. They then take those recordings and those questions up to either their computer to author the instructions, or in front of the machine they’ll put on a HoloLens or Magic Leap and they’ll start creating those instructions, just as the tool maker operator laid out for them. And within just a few hours they’ll have a virtual reality or augmented reality version of that same training.
We have people that have never done any sort of machining or tooling be able to put on the headset and within a day or two become an expert in a few areas within the field.
If it’s the case where they’ve never worked on it we probably put them through a complete headset training to make sure they go through all the steps and leave evidence, that way we know they’re learning what they should be learning.
If they’re going back to something they’ve trained on previously but haven’t been working on it for a while, we’ll probably give them the iPad so that they can quickly scan in and go through the templates on the tablet interface so that way they can quickly get back to doing their job.
It’s a very scalable software so as our company grows it’s going to be a lot more of a necessity for us to get headsets on people a lot quicker. With the age gap in manufacturing, the skill gap, it’s essential now more than ever to really get more people into manufacturing and get them trained fast so that all that expert knowledge accumulated over careers doesn’t get lost.”

Augmented Reality In Hands On Learning Environment
I think the AR is going to have a massive impact on the consistency of the training that we’re able to deliver.
This guarantees that each step is followed and it’s the same thing repeat-ably each and every single time
It’s hard to just pick up a piece of paper and learn from a piece of paper. This gives you that piece of paper with context. And you can touch it. You can touch it while you’re learning about it. It’s a really fantastic integration to the whole learning-while-doing model.
The students love it. See it. See the UI. See the AR overlay on what they’re doing. It’s been a great experience for them. They really feel that the training has stepped up significantly.
I’ve had a fantastic experience with Manifest. The UI has been extremely friendly. And just being able to take it, put those steps down, and start adding in the notes and everything to it.
It’s very friendly to use for someone who has no technical background at all.
